Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) have reviewed the promotion process for its staff and manpower.
According to the GES, under the new system, ranks ranging from Principal Superintendent up to Deputy Director, shall only be required to take an aptitude test.
However, Officers who get promoted to Deputy Director shall be required to attend an interview if only they have the desire to be heads of schools or any such position that may require an interview.
This is contained in a circular issued on January 10, 2020, signed by the Director of Human Resource and Management Division of the Ghana Education Service, Adjoa Van Vicker.
The circular, which has been sent to all staff of the Service through the Regional Directors, is copied to the Director-General of the GES, the Deputy Director-General (Management and Supervision), the Deputy Director-General (Quality Assurance), the Chairman of the GES Council, and all Regional Directors.
This new system comes to replace the old system that required all staff of the Service to pass through a rigorous promotion interview to determine if the met the requirements for a promotion.
